Billboard Controversy!!!

A political billboard goes up in Orlando....
Some say that this billboard should be taken down. It's of a picture of the burning World Trade Center and the message, "Please Don't Vote for a Democrat." Mike Meehan, a St. Cloud businessman and musician is the one that has paid for the billboard to go up.
We got a chance to Mike Meehan, who put the billboard up. Catch what Mike has to say here...

What others are saying
- Billboard ControversyI wish Americans would stop putting all the blame on President Bush. Lets go back to the former President Clinton....why didn't he try just a little harder to capture Bin Ladden when he had the chance....maybe we wouldn't have suffered the 9/11 attacks. Unfortunately, if a Democrat is elected in Nov. this country will see more frequent attacks than ever before. God Bless us all.
- Go VoteThe billboard is not up to necessarily blame dems for the towers...it is to make us think about who is most likely to keep this from happening again. It didn't matter who was in office; that is the past. It was a toss of the dice as to who was our president at the time of the attacks. Remember, the first Trade Center attack came during what president? I will vote for Mccain because he will better serve our country's security needs for me and my children. Just think before you vote.
GOD Bless america !!! - Dumbocrats Rock....All these people want to talk about who was in when this happened. Slick Willie was too busy with "other things" and "that woman" to go after the ones who finally perpetrated this awful crime. Go back to your bagel and frappacino.
- Billboard BSTypical Neotard 'Scare 'em' BS. Anybody with a brain who has reviewed Nat'l Security record transcripts would see that Clinton's Nat'l Security advisor was VERY BLUNT about the threat AQ presented, including the threat of planes used as bombs. But, the new Bush admin IGNORED these warnings... But hey, why let the facts get in the way, right??
- billboardon chan. 2 news they just said MIKE is a canadian not even a us citizen. I will call for the first time in am
- Billboard - Keep It.I believe that the billboard is a great reminder as to why our troops are over in Iraq. We should always remember and never forget that awfull day. I will never forget that day as I watched TV. In response to the others. Yes a Republican was in office when it happen, but a democrate was there before when the threat was there, and did nothing to follow up to protect our country.
- BillboardI listened to part one of the interview. I didn't take the time to listen to part two, as it seemed to me that Mike was trying to contradict what Doc & Grace was bringing up as facts. I have no opinion one way or the other as to if the billboard needs to come down, but for those who have posted for the guy to get the facts straight, I agree with them.
- BillborardPersonally, I'm a bit tired of all the poliltical correctness demanded. When did we become so sensitive?? At the end of the day, the democrats DID cut our defense budget.....they should be big enough to own it. Keep the billboard.
- Billboard..NO! I don't believe that the billboard should be taken down... It shows us as Americans what we have had to overcome.. and yes, the sight may be disturbing, but hey.. taking it down, means we're just censoring our selves. get over it, and if you don't like the sign.. DON'T LOOK AT IT!!!! plain and simple.. (plus shouldn't you be keeping your eyes on the road?)
- Keep The SignIt's a great illustration of how low the Republicans will crawl to get re-elected!
- I love it!
- Yes it should be taken down, they are stupid because the twin towers came down when a REPUBLICAN was in office not a Demacrat so why would you not vote A Demicrat this tells me DO NOT VOTE FOR A REPUBLICAN...
- VotingI agree with the billboard, i am e registered democrat and will not vote for obama in this election not matter who his running mate is. I have found myself agreeing more with the Republicans lately than the democrats who are going back and forth on the issues depending on the way the crowd wants them to go.
- The Billboard...At first I thought I was the only one who's memory was going far enough back to remember it was a REPUBLICAN who was in office when this tragedy happened, now i just wonder if it's aploy to actually make More remember it Was a Republican in office or if Republicans are so ignorant and/or stupid that They don't remember all the Republican "Uh-Oh's"
- BillboardWho Cares. If a person wants to put up a bill board and spend his money. I don't have to read it. Just let it go. I have a lot more to worry about than a dumb advertisement on a bill board.
- BillboardI did not say that we do not have the freedom of speech. It is not what is written that I find awful, it is using the towers in something that stupid. We are in America and we do have rights, but somethings cross a line and the people who paid for this could have done it without the towers in the back ground. You would think the government in Orlando would have told them to change it to put it up. And as for those of you who think this is ok in this country, you need to look at what our country is for and not what gets the biggest reaction from people. This sign is a disgrace to all who have died for the ones we have lost there and the ones that will die. I am ashamed of all of you.
- BillboardThis is a great example of America. We have the freedom of speech that allows such a display, if you don't like or don't agree with what is said or posted, too bad. As a nation we have the ability to agree to disagree. This is one of many liberties that our troops are protecting by fighting the terrorists on their turf and not ours. Vote Republican before these liberties we enjoy are slowly stripped away.
- No BUTI firmly disagree with it's message. However, that's what America is all about! Besides, what informed citizen makes political decisions based on a billboard's one line message anyway? I'd like to think we will all vote (for a Republican OR for a Democrat) for reasons more personal and rational than because a billboard told us to.
- BillboardI think it is awful that they used the Twin Towers in this ad. People died there and the people who put this up have no feelings for the families of the ones lost there. Also, these people seem to forget, that there was a rebublican in office when this happened and a rebublican that has still not gotten the one who did this. You should be ashamed of this in our country. This needs to come down. I only hope that the ones who paid for this are forgiven for their deeds.
- "please dont vote for a dem"This is terrible, if you are going to do a sign like this back it up with facts, who was in office when that happened? a republician... next time dont just bash a party if you cant say why or what is wrong, i cant believe so many voted to keep it up its terrible
- BillboardLet's not forget that it was Slick Willy who didn't perceive Osama as a significant enough threat to try and catch him during the 1990s. Regardless, this billboard is protected by 1st amendment rights. I am not offended by the adult advertisements my small children are always asking about from the back seat of my car. Those businesses have a constitutional right to operate and advertise, so does this man.
- BilboardThis is America Right?? Freedom of speach have we forgotten that? That is after all why we have active troops protecting our freedom and our rights. The billboard says it all and that may offend people, but look at the facts and say it is wrong then. It isn't!
- Billboard IssueDear Doc and Grace,
I don't recall the Right to Freedom of Speech to apply only if you agree with it. The Billboard is not offensive, I may not agree with it, but it does not trouble me. I have to watch people burn MY American Flag, I have to watch porn in fornt of young children, I have to listen to language and expressions that are VERY offensive; all in the name of Freedom of Speech. This sign again, is just an opinion, and this person is contributing to the economy. At a time when people have to cut back on all goods and services, this man is paying to have this sign up. Thank you for hearing me. - Political BillboardI would think that Democrats as much as Republicans would want to keep the billboard up, since it is an example of our right to free speech.
- RightsAs much as I may or may not agree with this sign, I believe in our freedom of speech and can't vote for this to be taken down.
