The American Red Cross and Pitney Bowes Inc. are teaming up to send holiday cards to members of the military and their families in the United States and around the world.
This Saturday, November 22nd, Central Florida volunteers will be collecting signed greeting cards at various locations to kick off the campaign. Red Cross teen corps. volunteers will then screen cards for hazardous materials, sort and package the cards, and then the Red Cross will ensure the delivery to military bases, veteran's hospitals and military hospitals during the holidays.

Last year, the national effort garnered more than 600,000 cards for wounded service men and women from around the country. This year the Red Cross hopes to collect more than one million cards and holiday greetings nationwide. The goal for the Central Florida Chapter is 30,000 cards.

"From the front lines to the home front, for more than 125 years, the American Red Cross has provided care and assistance to service members, their families and Veterans," said Joel Hass CEO of the Mid-Florida Region. "This is a way for every member of the public to lift the spirits of military members, their families and veterans during this holiday season. It's as easy as signing your name."

The event will kick off this Saturday, November 22, at 11am at Orlando Fashion Square mall located at 3201 East Colonial Drive. Please meet inside the mall at the West Center Court near Sears. Volunteers will pass out thousands of free cards to the general public to sign. Retired Brigadier General Randy Bigum, American Red Cross of Central Florida Board Member, will speak about the importance of remembering our soldiers and veterans during the holidays.

Card signing locations will also be available in our service counties from 11am - 4pm:

Osceola County: The Loop, 3208 North John Young Parkway, Kissimmee Seminole County: The Oviedo Marketplace, 1700 Oviedo Marketplace Blvd.
