Topic: Christopher Columbus...Should we still honor this day?
There's been controversies about whether or not we should still recognize Christopher Columbus day considering how he went about things. We all grew up learning that Christopher Columbus found the new world and helped pave the way for what we have today...but in reality that's not the exact truth...
Not only was he not the only one to believe that the earth was round, but he was a pretty bad guy considering all he did to the natives he ran into. So now there are 22 states that don't recognize Columbus day as a holiday.
What others are saying
- ColumbusThe reason why the US started Columbus Day was to snub the British during the Revolutionary War. The two great explorers at the time were English Explorer John Cabot and Columbus. The early Americans though Columbus the better of the two since he was not British. So let's substitute John Cabot Day instead of Columbus Day !!!!!!
