Poll: Was this photo of Palin demeaning in Newsweek...
Sarah Palin was on the cover of Newsweek and there's a lot of debate whether thepicture they used is sexist or not! This has even caused debate here in the studio! Doc seems to think it's an ok photo to use for Newsweek, while Grace says that for a political article they should not have used this photo which was intended for a runners magazine...YOU BE THE JUDGE!

What others are saying
- This photo's fine. Not like she's sportin' a sports-bra. But I guess sneakers are a bit odd for Newsweek.
- There's nothing wrong with it!The photo is probably a more accurate portrayal of her. The fact that Palin is a political lightweight is better illustrated with this picture. She is far out of her league when dolled up in the traditional trappings of a politician. The poor woman can't open her mouth without sounding like an idiot. No wonder she quit her job. The heat in the political kitchen was so great to make her give up on the governorship. I really don't see how anyone could possibly think she'll now be able to handle the political kitchen in the White House. She's obviously incompetent at being a politician. Nevertheless, she's still a blessing for Obama in 2012. As long as she's distracting the religious right, the Dems should survive the election with a substantial majority. As long as they pass some sort of health care bill, that is...
- Sarah Palin PhotoActually I think that the photo shows how versatile she really is. Not only does it show that she supports her country, she is also holding a Blackberry, which adds to the "working woman" appearance. In addition, this photos shows that she cares about her health, which in this day and age, less and less people do. I think she is portraying a really good role model in this picture.
- Sarah PalinGrace:
I have to tell you, you were âright onâ this morning in the debate with Doc. Usually Doc is pretty lucid and I tend to agree with his view of things; but he was off his game with respect to the Sarah Palin Newsweek cover.
One has to wonder if Newsweek were going to do a cover story on Hillary or Nancy Pelosi or Sonja Sotameyer, would they have gone into some archive or purchased some picture taken for another magazine of one of these ladies in running gear to put on the cover of their magazine? I think Newsweek has an idealogical agenda in putting this particular photo [which I find sexist] on the cover. They are continuing to try and caricature Palin as someone not to be taken seriously.
Go Grace! You won! - The top photo....should have been used, but we do appreciate she is the best looking Presidential candidate out there. I guess if she doesn't make it as President, she would make a great cover girl for the NRA. One of her stories this morning was "My Daddy raised a great hunting Partner'. My response "Yeah, so did Dick Cheney's, doesn't mean I would go hunting with him though." Sarah you wear whatever you want, because your words and actions will speak louder than anything you will wear if you want to be President.
- Sarah Palin PhotoThere is nothing wrong with the photo but it was an inappropriate choice to accompany a serious news article. No news magazine has used the photos of Barack Obama in his swim trunks to accompany a serious news article. To select this picture was an obvious attempt to demean and trivialize Ms. Palin.
- PALIN PHOTOThis just go's to show you that people are afread of a Strong, Beautiful Woman with a BRAIN. They will do anything to make us look like a bunch of dumbies that should be in the kitchen instead of being in the White House.
- Sarah Palin PhotoPicture was an inappropriate choice for a serious news article. They have never used the picture of Barack Obama in his swim trunks on the cover of a news magazine to connect with a serious article. The selection of this photo is demeaning in the sense that she is not being taken seriously as a politician. Great photo for a running article, just as Obama in swim trunks would be fine for an article on what presidents do to relax. Newsweek was trying to trivialize her.
- Sarah PalinDoc, I agree that it is a good photo of her, BUT like Grace said, it is not the photo that should be on News Weekly. Thanks and keep up the good work. I love your show and is the only thing I listen to in the morning.
