CARRIE HOPES TO INSPIRE OTHERS TO PLAY ON

Carrie Underwood is in New York City pounding the publicity payment as her highly-anticipated third album, Play On, hits stores today.

Carrie, who co-wrote seven songs on the CD, says it has something for everyone. She adds, "I think people can enjoy my writing more and things that...are truly coming from my heart more." She hints, "It takes you all over the place...takes you all around the world."

Among the songs Underwood co-wrote is the title track, which she hopes will inspire fans:

"I definitely think that whenever I'm having, like, a tough time I can take my own advice and 'Play On.' It is important to me that especially the title - because when you see 'Play On' the album and then you look at the back and you see 'Play On' the song - it might call special attention to whatever song you decide to make your title track, you know? So, I definitely wanted to have something to be said. It is important that it comes from someplace that if you call extra attention to it, it's gonna mean something to somebody. You know, hopefully there are people finding inspiration out of it and find a way to keep playing on."
