Chris Cagle Faces Trial Date in Misdemeanor Case
Chris Cagle will stand trial in Tucson, Ariz., on a misdemeanor assault charge in connection with an altercation on Dec. 13 outside a local nightclub, the Tucson Citizen newspaper reports. The trial, expected to be completed within one day, will take place Sept. 23 in Tucson city court. Cagle is accused of punching Mark Barry of Tucson after Barry's girlfriend became verbally abusive because the singer refused to sign an autograph for her. Police said Cagle had already signed several items for her. Cagle was not present during a Monday (April 21) hearing, but his attorney said the singer acted in self-defense. Barry has filed a civil suit against Cagle and his sound engineer, Kenneth Hoyt, who serve as a defense witness during the trial on the assault charge. advertisement
