Phil Vassar Releases "Prayer Of A Common Man" Today
Phil Vassar's ready with his new album, "Prayer of a Common Man." (check it out here) Vassar says he wrote the title song after a trip home, when he started to look back on the way he had grown up in his hometown of Lynchburg, Virginia. Vassar says when he and songwriting buddy Tom Douglas finished the song he knew, quote, "we had written something great that day." Phil wrote or co-wrote ten of the 12 tunes on the album. The disc takes on a more introspective tone than his previous releases, but Phil reminds fans he can still cut loose with "Why Don't Ya," a duet with Los Lonely Boys. The rocking number was penned by Max Baca, Speedy Sparks, and Shawn Sahm, son of the late Tex-Mex singer Doug Sahm. Vassar's current single, "Love Is A Beautiful Thing," was written by Craig Wiseman and Jeffrey Steele. Vassar notes that he's very willing to cut a song he didn't write when he thinks it's a hit. "Prayer of a Common Man" will be in stores today.
