Injury Not Interrupting Kenny Chesney's Tour
Doctors have told Kenny Chesney that he can continue his "Poets & Pirates" tour to Austin, Texas; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Dallas, Texas this weekend. Chesney was injured last Saturday in Columbia, South Carolina when his boot was caught between the lift and the stage for nearly 40 seconds as the lift was taking him to the stage. Chesney played a two-hour show in pain, thinking his foot might be broken. A doctor examined him after the show, and determined that most of the damage was to his toes. Kenny says he told his doctor he didn't want to cancel shows but he also didn't want any lasting damage that would keep him from performing later. The singer says the doctor told him that it will hurt but he can continue the tour. Chesney will have his foot taped up and will be on pain medications, and he'll also have a doctor at each show in case there is a problem. Doctors think Kenny will return to full flexibility and strength in a few weeks. The singer admits it was scary because all he knew was that he was in pain, but, quote, "the crowd carries you." Chesney adds that he expects his fans at upcoming shows to, quote, "bring their best and really rock us, too."
