Country Stars Ringing In 2009 On TV And On Stage
| Kellie Pickler will be playing a big role in one of the biggest New Year's Eve celebrations this year. She'll be serving as a correspondent for "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve," reporting on the festivities in Times Square. The singer says she's excited about spending New Year's Eve in New York City for the first time, and thrilled to be a part of the legendary show. And while there will be a number of stars performing for the televised event, she's remaining loyal to country, noting the person she's most looking forward to seeing is Taylor Swift. |
Other artists slated to appear from New York include the Jonas Brothers, Lionel Richie, and the Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am. Fergie will be Pickler's counterpart in Hollywood, where stars such as Natasha Bedingfield, Fall Out Boy, Jesse McCartney, Ne-Yo, Pussycat Dolls and Robin Thicke are scheduled to perform. The 37th annual "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" airs live on ABC tonight, starting at 10:00 p.m. Eastern.
Kellie Pickler and Taylor Swift aren't the only country stars slated to ring in 2009 on TV. Chuck Wicks has been tapped to take part in the Fox News Channel's "U Party 2009" special, while a segment of Lynyrd Skynyrd's show in Pikeville, Kentucky is expected to be included on CNN's "New Year's Live with Anderson Cooper." In addition, a number of country stars will be celebrating the holiday on stage performing for their fans. Julianne Hough will be the headliner for the 20th annual Peach Drop in Atlanta, while Rissi Palmer will be serving as a co-host for the Georgia event. The Lost Trailers are also in Atlanta, entertaining at Wild Bill's. In Nashville, Craig Morgan is headlining an event at the Wild Horse Saloon in Nashville, while the Del McCoury Band has top billing for the New Year's Eve show at the Ryman.
