Toby Keith says he has a great deal of independence in his career. The singer-songwriter notes he doesn't work on a set schedule but creates when he feels inspired. He adds that he accepts the credit for his successes and takes the responsibility for his failures. Keith, who was recently named the Nashville Songwriters Association International's 2000-2009 Artist/Songwriter of the Decade, has certainly seen a lot more successes than failures. Most of his 48 charting tracks have peaked the top 40, and 16 of his singles -- including his 1993 debut "Should've Been a Cowboy" -- have been number one hits.
