Kix Brooks Wins A CMA As Solo
Brooks & Dunn's Kix Brooks already knows he's a winner at this year's Country Music Association Awards ceremony. The singer has earned the title of CMA National Broadcast Personality of the Year for his syndicated radio show. Brooks says he recently got the news from Jamey Johnson, who told him while he was in the studio working on his weekly program. He notes, quote, "I wasn't sure what was going on -- thought maybe I'd forgotten about an interview or something. Next thing I know, he's telling me that we won the CMA National Air Personality of the Year Award." Brooks notes everyone on the show's staff was thrilled, and he's quick to share the credit.
The singer adds that he's, quote, "shocked, humbled, and extremely honored to accept this award." Brooks will be formally recognized as the CMA National Broadcast Personality of the Year during the 43rd annual CMA Awards broadcast, coming up on ABC on November 11th.
Kix Brooks could also win a few more CMA Awards before the event is over. Brooks & Dunn are in the running for Vocal Duo of the Year, while the song "Cowgirls Don't Cry," their collaboration with Reba McEntire, is a contender for Musical Event of the Year.
