Kenny Chesney Weds Renee Zellweger
Private Ceremony In The US Virgin Islands with Closest Family, Friends

US Virgin Islands: The sun set over the Caribbean as Kenny Chesney took the hand of actress Renee Zellweger in marriage last night. In a simple ceremony on property owned by the country singer/songwriter, the pair became husband and wife before 35 close friends, associates and family members.

Having met in Universal City at NBC's Tsunami Relief Broadcast, where both manned the phone banks to take pledges, they maintained a quiet friendship which blossomed over time. Kept a secret up until moments before the actual ceremony, the decision for privacy was made to protect what is to the couple a deeply private event.

"I am incredibly happy," says the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year. "I may well be the luckiest man alive, to be so in love with someone who is so perfect for me, it's just hard to imagine that I'm not going to wake up."

The low key event, which was marked by a great deal of joy and laughter, came during a break in Chesney's wildly successful Somewhere in the Sun concert tour. For Chesney, who will tour through the fall, including stadium dates June 4 in Washington DC, July 23 in Boston and July 30 in Pittsburgh, this is the highlight of what could already be deemed a dream year.

With 5 nominations for the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards, including Entertainer, Male and Album for the nearly quadruple platinum CMA Album of the Year When The Sun Goes Down, Chesney will perform "Anything But Mine," the third multiple week #1 hit from the nearly quadruple platinum release on the live telecast May 17. In addition, Be As You Are: Songs From An Old Blue Chair, the deeply personal singer/songwriter album about his life in the islands is also sitting in the Top 10 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart.
