GuitarTown Project, Kenny's Guitar to be AuctionedThe GuitarTown Project is a public arts project that features thirty-nine 10 foot tall fiberglass Gibson Les Paul or Chet Atkins model guitars, as well as thirty showcase (regular size) guitars, displayed all around Nashville. The GuitarTown Project was developed in an effort to raise money for four worthy charitable organizations: Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The DISTRICT, and the United Way of Nashville. This unique art display, launched in April 2004, was designed by local and nationally acclaimed visual artists and each sculpture is partnered with a country music celebrity. The guitars will complete their tour of Nashville in January 2006 and then be sold at the GuitarTown Auction Gala Event on Thursday, February 23, 2006.
Along with many other country music artists, Kenny Chesney has been a loyal supporter of the project and his guitar, designed by Paul Chase, will be auctioned off during this event. Beginning January 2, 2006, a limited number of tickets for the Auction Gala may be purchased for $200 per person. The tickets include entrance to the VIP reception and auction; including food and libations; a VIP goody-bag filled with sponsor gifts, hob-knobbing with the stars and your chance to be on a one hour television program taping at the event. Unfortunately, Kenny will not be present at this event. For more ticket information, please call 615.871.4500 ext. 2908 or go to www.nashvilleguitartown.com.
