BASKETBALL, BEACHES AND THE BOY FROM KNOXVILLE Lady Vol Basketball spends the day with country music star Kenny Chesney
November 30, 2005
After a steady diet of basketball in back-to-back-to-back games at the Paradise Jam in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, the Tennessee Lady Volunteer basketball team and staff enjoyed a day of sun and fun with Knoxville native and country music superstar Kenny Chesney.
The Lady Vols ferried over to Chesney's home and were treated to a totally "stress free zone" on Sunday, Nov. 27. Incredible ocean views, giant chaises, food, fun, dancing, music, and the pool were enjoyed by all.
Kenny, decked out in orange surf shorts and a Tennessee Titans hat, was the consummate host meeting, greeting and visiting with the Lady Vol traveling party. His old pal, Mickey Dearstone (the Voice of Lady Vol Basketball), was on hand. Mickey has known Kenny for years - even back when he was a young singer/songwriter from the Luttrell community in Knoxville trying to break-in to the country music business.
It was evident to all on hand where Kenny got his inspiration for many of his beachy-themed country smash tunes. Everyone was awestruck by the incredible sunset from Kenny's perch above the ocean. When the sun went down, the Lady Vols were treated to Kenny and his guitar on the back porch.
