Garth Brooks Wows Crowd In L.A. Garth Brooks took live performance to a new level this past weekend, and nearly 100,000 people will testify that he did a great job. Brooks performed five shows in two days at the Staples Center in Los Angeles Friday and Saturday to benefit victims of the recent wildfires in Southern California. At a press conference last Thursday, Garth admitted it had been a long time since he had done that many shows in such a short time period.
Friday's second show included a few surprises. According to the "Los Angeles Times," Garth's wife, Trisha Yearwood, stopped by to sing "In Another's Eyes" with him. Afterwards the obviously besotted husband laid one on her! Women in the audience just swooned! Trisha also sang her hit "Walkaway Joe" while Brooks covered Don Henley's part in the song. Rocker Huey Lewis joined Garth on stage for their current duet "Workin' for a Livin'." Lewis also offered the audience a version of "Bad is Bad" while Brooks stood by and watched.
The first concert on Friday aired as the CBS special "Garth Brooks: Live in L.A.," which gave fans who couldn't be at the show an opportunity to watch and donate to the cause. Each show was about two hours long. The "Times" reports that the first show on Saturday was the most conversational and the final one just a bit less high energy. Brooks set a goal to raise ten-million-dollars for the cause. Half of it came in with ticket sales and donations prior to the show. With all merchandise concession money also going to the benefit, the singer may be well on his way to raising the intended amount.
