Take Keith Urban Home! How valuable is this 12-by-9 foot blowup vinyl banner of Keith Urban's Jan. 3, 2005, Country Weekly cover? It's already been stolen and recovered onceand now that it's been autographed by Keith himself, it's that much more desirable.
The poster was created to hang on the wall outside the Music Row offices of Country Weekly, and that's precisely where it wentuntil a thief nabbed it right off the building. It was sold to a collector, who called police after seeing a report about the theft on the local newscast. The poster was promptly returned. But after this strange turn of events, the Country Weekly staff determined that it would only be fitting that the poster be auctioned off to benefit Keith's favorite charity, Max It Out for Meningitiswith what they thought would be a simple autograph Keith. But when confronted with the giant banner, Keith got creative. He spun out a yarn befitting the poster's larcenous back story:
Dear Mum--
I've been kidnapped and held for ransom. I'm doing well, these captors are feeding me (Moon Pie, RC Colas) and they said that if I include one of their songs on my next album they'd let me go. I guess I'll be going now. Only gotta come up with a bridge and the last line of the chorus and I'm outta here.
Love, your baby boy,
Keith"
