THE wedding bells for Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are now ringing at fever pitch. Heavy speculation reached a climax last night when a popular US TV program (Entertainment Tonight) announced the official engagement of the Aussie star couple. The show said sources close to the stars had confirmed the engagement. But Kidman's Australian publicist Wendy Day rejected the TV program's breathy claims. "I have nothing to confirm," she said. "I can't comment on something I have no further knowledge about, and quite frankly Entertainment Tonight can't either. "There was no confirmation from any publicists. It's speculation." But while Day may be keeping mum over her high-profile client's personal life, paparazzi photographs of the "Aussie amours" over the past fortnight indicate wedding bells are imminent. Pregnancy rumours have been rife since a US magazine ran a picture of the couple appearing happy, in love and with Urban's hand protectively on her stomach. PHOTO HERE A few weeks before that, it ran a picture of Kidman, 38, wearing a diamond ring on her wedding finger while walking a Boston street with her country singing beau.PHOTO HERE The couple were photographed this week walking with their parents, Antony and Janelle Kidman and Marienne and Bob Urban, near the singer's home in Nashville at the weekend looking every bit the cosy new family. If the wedding rumours are true, the couple would not be short of cash for the nuptials. Kidman was this week named Hollywood's second-highest paid actress, demanding up to $24 million a movie. Julia Roberts remains the queen of Tinseltown's leading ladies with $27 million a film, but Kidman is closing in. Kidman split from actor Tom Cruise in 2001, with whom she adopted two children. The wedding would be the first for Urban, 38, who has enjoyed stellar success in Nashville. He won entertainer of the year and male vocalist of the year at this year's Country Music Association awards. He also won the male vocalist award last year. From Sarah Brant, The Herald Sun - Dec 01
