02/23/06 - Kenny Chesney has a new honor -- and receiving it left him nearly speechless. He was presented with a plaque celebrating 25 million records sold during the 20th annual RCA Boat Cruise in Nashville last week.

After the presentation, Chesney said that when he first came to Nashville, he was a kid who wanted to sing songs like the people who'd inspired him: Keith Whitley, Conway Twitty and Alabama. Chesney's label said he has now sold more albums than The Who, The Doobie Brothers, The Police, and Jimmy Buffett.

Chesney is on a few weeks R&R. His tour kicks off a month from today in Ohio. We're hoping he comes our way...stay tuned!
