ACM Nominations Announced

Brad Paisley grabbed six nominations Wednesday morning (March 8) to become the top contender at the 41st annual Academy of Country Music Awards. The nominations were announced at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in downtown Nashville by Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood and Hannah Storm, co-host of CBS-TV's The Early Show, live on the morning news show.

In addition to a top male vocalist nomination, Paisley's Time Well Wasted is up for album of the year, and "Alcohol" is nominated for single of the year. Another of the album's tracks -- Paisley's collaboration with Dolly Parton on "When I Get Where I'm Going" -- is nominated for song, video and vocal event of the year. The song of the year nomination also goes to songwriters Rivers Rutherford and George Teren.

Sugarland chalked up nominations in five categories, and lead vocalist Jennifer Nettles picked up yet another mention in an additional category. Sugarland received nominations as top new duo or vocal group and top vocal group of the year. Their debut album, Twice the Speed of Life, is nominated for album of the year, and the album track "Baby Girl" is up for single and song of the year. Additionally, Nettles and Bon Jovi are nominated for vocal event of the year for ""Who Says You Can't Go Home," a track from Bon Jovi's latest album.

Nominated for top vocal duo and entertainer of the year, Brooks & Dunn scored a total of five nominations. The other three resulted from "Believe," which is nominated for single, song and video of the year.

Rascal Flatts and Underwood received four nominations each. Nominated for top female vocalist and top new female vocalist, Underwood's recording of "Jesus, Take the Wheel" resulted in single and song of the year nominations. Rascal Flatts garnered top vocal group and entertainer of the year nominations along with an album of the year mention for Feels Like Today and a song of the year nod for "Skin (Sarabeth)."

The 2006 ACM Awards show takes place May 23 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. It will be broadcast live on CBS. COMPLETE LIST OF ALL NOMINEES, PHOTO HERE!
