Tim McGraw may not have won big at last week's CMA Awards, but last night at The 33rd Annual American Music Awards, he took home two important country music trophies of the night--Favorite Male Artist (his fifth win in this category) and Favorite Country Album for Live Like You Were Dying.

"I want to say thank you to my fans first because this is an award that's voted on by fans and that's what counts in my business," Tim shouted lovingly to the house. Then he showed his pride in representing country music at this mixed genre awards show.

"Thanks to my family, my girls are down there watching, and my wife. And I also want to say that I'm proud to be a part of an industry, the country music industry, that carries itself with character and has a lot of respect for each other and other people."

Then Tim gave a nod to his friend Kenny Chesney who he competed with last night. "I'm proud that I got the nomination...(with Kenny). Me and Kenny came up together selling hot dogs at a hot dog stand with guitars, so it's been a long time and we've had a lot of fun together and hope we can do it for a lot of time more. Thank you."

When he won Favorite Country Album, Tim thanked his band, the Dancehall Doctors, his producers, Byron Gallimore and Darren Smith,
and Missi Gallimore (Byron's wife and Tim's point person for finding songs).
