Superstar Tim McGraw Serenades Dinner Guests
BANFF, CANADA — McGraw stopped by the Saltlik restaurant for dinner and drinks July 14, surprising patrons when he climbed on stage and belted out a few favourites for close to an hour. The unexpected show was a treat for Bailey Petch, a server at the 'Lik. "He put on an awesome show, even though he had a few glasses of wine," said Petch, who got in the spirit with her cowboy hat. "Tim's pretty hot." McGraw played nine songs, including Let's Get Drunk and Fight, a tune that did little to ruin Amelia Vercoe's first impression of the musician. On a working holiday from New Zealand, Vercoe had never heard of McGraw, husband of country singer Faith Hill, before Thursday. "The concert was awesome," she said. "There was a girl here who tried to get tickets to one of his concerts in Calgary, but they were always sold out. So when he got on stage here she went mental." McGraw's band used the instruments that were set up for the scheduled band. When McGraw finished, his band thanked everyone and left quickly. "As soon as he came on stage the place filled up," said Dave Tremblay, a manager at the bar. "As soon as the other band came back on the place emptied.
