Wynonna Takes Role Seriously
Singer-songwriter and red-headed vixen WYNONNA JUDD is taking on a new role as the host of country music's answer to "American Idol," "Nashville Star," on Tuesday and she told us why she signed on to mentor and administer some "tough love" to these wannabe country crooners.

"I'm at that age where I've had experience and wisdom," she says. "I see these kids looking at the idea of stardom with such wonderment, that it's going to be all about champagne and limos and award shows. And I think I'm there to give them a dose of reality."

As one-half of the legendary mother-daughter duo THE JUDDS, Wynonna broke out on the music scene 14 years ago with an equally stunning solo career. Tuesday night at 10 on USA she joins "hick-hop" singer COWBOY TROY as the hosts of the country music-singing competition.

"This is not a freak show," she warns, "like, 'Hey, tune in to see who gets thrashed,or who do we feed to the lions this week?' Country singing is about community. We are embracing these new artists."
