Birthday girl Carrie Underwood's has her sixth consecutive number one single with "All-American Girl" on the "Country Airplay" charts. It's the second single to reach top-of-the-charts status that Carrie co-wrote, following the previous "So Small." Underwood admits this validates to her that she has some talent as a songwriter and she's thrilled to be included in the Nashville community of writers. Both songs are from her double-Platinum album "Carnival Ride." "All-American Girl" currently ranks as the number-one selling country music video and the Country Top Song at iTunes. It was CMT's fastest-rising video, reaching the number-one spot in just two weeks. Carrie is off today, celebrating her 25th birthday. However, she heads for San Jose, California tomorrow night with Keith Urban on the "Love, Pain and the whole crazy Carnival Ride" tour.
Trace Adkins' Dodges A Bullet, Lands A Kiss On Celebrity Apprentice
Trace Adkins may still be blushing today after last night's "Celebrity Apprentice" on NBC. The teams were faced with the task of selling art in a New York gallery. Trace admitted he couldn't relate to most of the pieces displayed, and shared his thoughts on the ones he didn't like. Despite his lack of passion for the artwork, Trace did end up selling works to two different customers on his own. However Team Empresario, consisting of Adkins, Stephen Baldwin, and Omarosa, was no match for Team Hydra's Piers Morgan, Carol Alt, and Lennox Lewis. Hydra overwhelmed Trace and his crew, and project manager Omarosa was given the boot. But she had a few parting words for her rival Piers Morgan, which dissolved into her questioning Piers' sexual preference. Piers then came into the boardroom to defend himself and set the record "straight" -- by planting a big kiss on Trace's cheek. The singer looked like a deer in headlights as it happened, and was clearly a bit perturbed that he was blindsided by the smooch from the Brit. Piers' charity, the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, won the gallery earnings, and Trace walked away to play another day. "The Celebrity Apprentice" airs on NBC on Thursday nights. Did you miss the show? Garth Brooks Wows Crowd At Country Radio Seminar
What was supposed to be an informal conversation with Garth Brooks turned into a 20-minute concert with his band at the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville yesterday. Brooks did take time to speak about topics, ranging from his retirement and spending time with his girls to his continued love for screenwriting and the state of the music industry. About mid-way through the allotted hour for the presentation, one lucky disc jockey was invited on stage to perform "Friends in Low Places" with Brooks. As the singer and his new duet partner went into the chorus, Garth asked him "Are you ready?" The curtains opened to reveal a full band playing behind them. Garth went on to perform "Calling Baton Rouge," "Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)," and "The Dance." He also took a moment to salute his friend, Chris LeDoux, the championship bronc rider and singer whose name Garth mentioned in "Much Too Young." In closing, Garth told the audience of mostly radio deejays and station managers they had a great responsibility in their jobs because, quote, "You are the window between music and the people."
