Retired country superstar Garth Brooks' rare appearance at a Texas fundraiser reportedly helped raise more than $2 million for a local hospital Saturday. Brooks performed with pals Steve Wariner, Stephanie Davis and Dan Roberts, who had organized the $1,000-a-seat Refuse to Lose event in Fort Worth to raise money for the Cook Children's Medical Center to purchase a brain-mapping machine. After a brief intermission, Brooks returned and performed solo, covering tunes by Merle Haggard, George Jones and Bob Seger. Ultimately, "the curtain rose to reveal his full band (and) they tore into 'Callin' Baton Rouge,"' according to Chris Huff, who attended the show. "It was electrifying and vintage Garth." The two-hour set included surprise guest Trisha Yearwood, whom Brooks accompanied as she performed "Walkaway Joe." For a finale, Garth brought out Trisha Yearwood. The two kissed many times on stage and sounded incredible together. But there was no talk of that magic duet CD he has wanted to make with her for years. His intro to Trisha had a slight misstep as he said 'my wife, Trisha.' It came out like it's been said before, and the crowd buzzed. Garth realized it and said, 'Let me correct myself.
