KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City's downtown keystone has officially opened. In a ceremony that started at 10:10 a.m. on Wednesday 10/10/07, city leaders and one country superstar cut the ribbon on the door to the Sprint Center.

A gracious Garth Brooks took the stage around 10:45 a.m., thanking fans for their support. Brooks sold out nine concerts at the Sprint Center in less than two hours last Saturday.

Hundreds of people turned out this morning to watch country singer Garth Brooks and Kansas City leaders open the $276 million Sprint Center. Brooks, who had promised a major announcement, told the crowd that his Nov. 14 show, one of nine set for the Sprint Center Nov. 5-12 and 14, would be broadcast live in movie theaters around the world. "This is going to be pretty cool," Brooks said.
