Tim McGraw's FIRST Movie Role
Before Friday Night Lights, Tim McGrawmade his film debut in the Rick Schroder directed film, Black Cloud. Black Cloud, is an inspirational story about a young Navajo, Native American boxer, who overcomes personal challenges as he comes to terms with his heritage, while fighting his way for a spot on the US Olympic boxing team. Tim plays the sheriff in the film. The film is making a limited run on the east coast this weekend. Tim's director, Schroder, was impressed and predicted big things for him in film. Schroder said that when he wrote the movie, he wanted the sheriff to be played by ''a guy who was confident. The guys in New York would say cocksure. Tim was coming to do a concert. So I thought, what about Tim McGraw for sheriff?'' Schroder mailed the script to McGraw and then met McGraw backstage at a concert in Phoenix, a concert where Tim brought Schroder on stage. ''That was the biggest adrenaline rush ever,'' he said. Schroder repaid the favor by casting McGraw, and wasn't sorry he did. ''He was a natural,'' Schroder said. ''He could definitely have a career as an actor.'' As it turned out, McGraw landed his first major studio role before "Black Cloud" ever debuted. Tim played the alcoholic father of a high-school football star in "Friday Night Lights."
