Trace Adkins of Celebrity ApprenticeThursday night, on NBC 9pm
Donald Trump returns to New York City with "The Celebrity Apprentice," with an all-star celebrity lineup of candidates. Contestants will not be vying for a job with Donald Trump, but the business-savvy celebrity contestants will be working towards a greater goal -- as they raise over a million dollars for their various charities throughout the season. Not only will the final winner be crowned the first 'Celebrity Apprentice,' but he or she will also have the honor of delivering a $250,000 bonus check to their designated charity.
Trace's charity is FAAN (Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network). PERSONAL CONNECTION: Trace's 6-year old daughter had a severe, life-threatening reaction to peanut butter when she was just 18 months old, an experience Trace called "terrifying." His daughter also suffers from allergies to eggs and milk. Trace feels that research could lead to greater understanding of food allergies, and perhaps someday a cure.
QUESTION: Let's put the million-dollar question out there first. You've achieved fame and success in your life. Why put yourself through the often-brutal Apprentice process?
TRACE: I wasn't going to do it. I really wasn't. It took some people to talk me into it, but once I was convinced it would be an unprecedented opportunity to raise awareness for a charity that truly is a personal thing for myself and my family, I decided to do it, and that was the only reason I did. The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network is a really important charity. My six-year-old daughter is cursed with horrific food allergies to nuts, dairy, eggs... it's a constant struggle as a family, day to day, and it's a very dangerous, deadly thing to deal with and we do the best we can. People don't know that three million school-age children are afflicted with food allergies
